  • I don't typically post wedding pictures on this Instagram account.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not for any negative reason, simply that I try to use this space to inspire others to travel, see the world and meet it's people.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So here's why last weekend fits this mold. January, 2012, I was traveling solo around India. My last stop was New Delhi, and I had joined a #couchsurfing meetup group of other travelers to get together and get dinner.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of the things I love the most when traveling, is meeting photographers. But not other tourists...locals with a camera. At this meetup it just so happened I would meet an Indian journalist that was covering the event. We hit it of, chatted about all things travel and humanity, and stayed in touch. I told her I was a wedding photographer and she said when she got married she would give me a call.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fast forward over six years, and I find myself in New York City, in Brooklyn's Botanic Garden. Because in this world, some people still do mean what they say. I was photographing her wedding, after all those years. It was so wonderful to see these two come together, and to bring their families from such different parts of the world into it as well. Also, just to note, I only want to go to Indian wedding dances now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The takeaway I hope you get from the story is this. You really, truly, never know who you are going to meet. After that, you never know how these interactions will shape your life in the future. No matter how technology, language, population, culture, or whatever changes; the one thing that has always been the same is humanity's ability and need to connect with others.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I leave you with a quote from a card I received eon's ago from a dear friend #littlewendybird "Friendships are like houseplants. You have to water them from time to time."
